# How to access the File Manager in cPanel?

You will find the **File Manager** in the **Files => File Manager** box.

The **File Manager** is very similar to that of your operating system and will allow you to perform certain actions such as downloading and uploading files, editing them, compressing files and directories, changing permissions, protecting directory access with passwords, etc.

To show hidden files, you must click on the **Settings** button at the top right.\
In the options window, you will see the checkbox to show or hide hidden files.
