# How to view resource consumption and usage statistics in cPanel?
Below you will find different tools that will provide you with information about the disk space and bandwidth consumption of your hosting account.
In your control panel, you will see in the **Statistics** box on the right, the current consumption of Disk Space in **Disk Usage** and the bandwidth consumption in **Bandwidth Usage**.

To view the consumption of disk space and bandwidth in detail, you will use the following tools:
### Disk Space Consumption
The consumed disk space can be seen from the **Disk Usage** tool, within the **Files** box.
<figure><img src="../../../../.gitbook/assets/cPanelDiskUsage01.png" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
This tool will show you the space consumption in each main area of your hosting plan.
<figure><img src="../../../../.gitbook/assets/cPanelDiskUsage02.png" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
Below, you will find the space consumed in each directory or folder of your account. You can open each directory with the **>** symbol and, if you click on a directory, the **File Manager** will open to view your content in detail.

### Bandwidth Consumption
Bandwidth consumption can be viewed, in a general way, from the **Bandwidth** tool within the **Metrics** box.
And if you want to view bandwidth consumption in a more detailed manner, you can do so from the **Awstats** tool, also found in the **Metrics** box.

#### Bandwidth Tool
In this tool, you will see the total bandwidth consumption up to the moment and the limit of the hosting plan.
Below, you will see the consumption divided into services and time segments.
<figure><img src="../../../../.gitbook/assets/cPanelStatisticsBandwidth03.png" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
Further down, you will see more detailed bandwidth consumption generated by each main service of your hosting plan each month.
This overview will help you determine if the consumption is stable or if there is a consumption peak that you consider suspicious. This could indicate a virus on the account.
<figure><img src="../../../../.gitbook/assets/cPanelStatisticsBandwidth04.png" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
#### Awstats Tool
If you want to view bandwidth consumption in the most detailed way possible, the best tool is **Awstats**.
If your website opens in browsers as **https://**yourdomain.com, then access the **SSL** version of your domain. If, on the other hand, the website opens as **http://**yourdomain.com (non-secure mode), then access the domain without **SSL**.
<figure><img src="../../../../.gitbook/assets/cPanelStatisticsBandwidth05.png" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
Upon accessing the tool, you will see various areas with information about bandwidth consumption:
1. You will see the date of update of the metrics in this tool.
2. You can choose different periods to view the consumption at that time.
3. In the center, you will see the consumption for each month. This section is the first place to check if a suspicious difference in consumption is detected compared to previous months.
<figure><img src="../../../../.gitbook/assets/cPanelStatisticsBandwidth06.png" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
Similarly, **Awstats** will show you bandwidth consumption in various ways, with **Traffic** always being the most important value in each section.
<figure><img src="../../../../.gitbook/assets/cPanelStatisticsBandwidth07.png" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
In the section in the image below, you will see consumption by country, another area where you can determine if there is unusual bandwidth consumption based on the origin.
<figure><img src="../../../../.gitbook/assets/cPanelStatisticsBandwidth08.png" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
Next, you will find consumption by IP connections. In general, this section tends to show unusual consumptions. Normally, you should find similar consumptions among all connections.
<figure><img src="../../../../.gitbook/assets/cPanelStatisticsBandwidth09.png" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
Below, you will find the consumption generated by Robots, Bots, Crawlers, etc. It is very important to review this section, as these Bots are the second most common cause of high bandwidth consumption.
<figure><img src="../../../../.gitbook/assets/cPanelStatisticsBandwidth10.png" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
Then you will see the most important section of all when reviewing bandwidth consumption on your account. In this section, you will see the bandwidth consumption by using specific resources of your website (script execution, images, videos, etc).
This is the most frequent cause of bandwidth consumption on your account, visits to the website itself. Of all the resources on your website, images or similar multimedia files usually consume the most bandwidth.
<figure><img src="../../../../.gitbook/assets/cPanelStatisticsBandwidth11.png" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
Finally, you will find the **Download** section, which will show consumption from direct downloads you may have on your website.
<figure><img src="../../../../.gitbook/assets/cPanelStatisticsBandwidth12.png" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
By reviewing each section or area of this tool, you will be able to identify what consumes the most bandwidth on your website. You may even detect suspicious consumption or misuse of your website. If that is the case, do not hesitate to contact us to review your account.
