Differences between IMAP and POP3
IMAP
An email account configured in IMAP mode allows you to synchronize your mail with the server in real time. Emails you receive in your mailbox will not be downloaded to your PC or device; instead you will view the content that exists on the server. Changes you make to the mailbox from any of your devices, such as deleting emails, will be reflected directly on the server.
POP3
POP3 mode will download a copy of the emails in your mailbox to your PC or device. Once downloaded to your machine, they will be removed from the server, unless you enable the option to leave a copy on the server. POP3 mode will allow you to check the same mailbox from different devices without affecting your content on the server.
